Looking For Anything Specific?

Standing in your own truth is not for the weak in heart but those who are courageous enough to air out their perspective or views irrespective of what is trending.

I have come to learn early in life that standing in your own truth is not an easy thing to do. It can make you lose lots of friends and gain a very few. The more we get accustomed to the norms around us, the more we neglect the things we actually stand for.

So often, instead of speaking our truth, we consent to things we'd actually not do out of fear of hurting or disappointing people. Other times we go with the trend instead of standing in our own truth.

In this day and age, it is becoming increasingly difficult for people to stand in their own truth. On the social media space, it's so easy to see almost everybody agreeing to a particular trend without an opinion of their own. There is the tendency to support or go with the crowd on what is trending without a perspective or view just to be accepted by the crowd.

Standing in your own truth is simply having a perspective about a thing and saying it as it is to you without fear or favour. It is being courageous to stand up for yourself and speak about things that bother you or that are not in line with your value.

But what does it take to be able to stand in your own truth? It's simply knowing who you are, your values, understanding your emotions and being able to state how you feel. It is mainly about being honest with yourself - knowing who you are and accepting all that you are including your flaws.

There is no perfect being on earth. We are all a work in progress. The experiences we go through daily teach us valuable lessons that enable us understand why we react the way we do to certain things thus giving us the ability to understand ourselves better.

Your voice and your story are the powerful tools tools you can use to express your feelings and its these same tools that you can use to impact your world.

Unfortunately, people are scared of standing in their own truth for fear of rejection, mockery, being hurtful or appearing to be vindictive which is quite understandable but the moment you get scared of standing in your truth, is the moment you give people control or power over you.

Standing in your truth may not come off as comfortable or as easy as it is said. It may appear hurtful but at the end, it is your truth and it is who you are.

Your truth should not be perceived as negative especially by you. What people think or say should not make you masqurade your true self. Standing in your truth is being loyal to yourself and to those around you.

HOW DO YOU FIND YOUR TRUTH?

THE USE OF YOUR INTUITION : You already know what is right and what is wrong. You know what exists within you - your values and your beliefs. Not standing in your own truth is not following your intuition. To follow your intuition, you need to start listening to yourself. Even when people advise you on a thing, it is your conviction that matters at the end.

Following your intuition may not always be easy but with lots of practice you can always learn to  follow your intuition. Learn to listen to your inner voice. It is there to guide you. It is one great gift that God has given to us. God even speaks to us through our inner voice.

Standing in your own truth has numerous benefits not just to you but also to the people around you.

1. AUTHENTICITY : You become authentic and true to yourself when you stand in your own truth. The moment you understand who you truly are is the moment you become liberated from the shackles of people. It is the moment you become free of unhealthy expectations of the people around you. Standing in your own truth is removing what is not true for or about us in order to become who we really are.

2. UNLOCKS YOUR POTENTIAL : To pursue and fulfil your potential, you need to be in alignment of your truth. Living your full potential is simply living your truth. The most courageous thing we would ever do is being our true self which enables us express our full potential.

3. Growth : Standing in your truth enables you to learn and grow from your mistakes. When we are honest about our mistakes and experiences, we would be able to learn and grow from these mistakes and experiences which in turn helps build resissilence equipping us to deal with challenges better.

As we learn to stand in our own truth, we wouldn't have to worry about keeping up with a facade pretending to be who we are not. With this, we become more relaxed and confident about who we are.

Waking up to ourselves and our own truth is a profound form of self-empowerment and freedom not just to you but to people around you. In acknowledging who we really are and standing in this truth, we also give people the courage to do the same for themselves.
