BANIGO TELLS VICE CHAIRMEN TO SUPPORT THEIR COUNCIL BOSSES

Rivers State Deputy Governor Dr. (Mrs) Ipalibo Harry Banigo has urged the Vice Chairmen of the 23 Local Government Areas to work in synergy with their Chairmen to positively impact on the lives of the people at the grassroots.

Dr. Banigo stated this while playing host to the Forum of Vice Chairmen of Local Government Councils at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Tuesday 11th December, 2018.



The Deputy Governor said all over the world wherever women are given prominence the society moves forward because women are agents of positive change.

She said it is unprecedented in the history of the Country for a State to have an all-female elected Vice Chairmen of Local Government Councils, noting that they must make a mark to justify the confidence reposed in them.

Dr. Banigo   advised them to design programmes to engage the youths in their Local Government Areas into productive ventures in order to keep them away from being misled by enemies of the State, stressing that when the people are happy the happiness will overflow and the State would continue to remain peaceful.

According to the Deputy Governor, the state is blessed with a State Chief Executive, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike whom she described as a leader who brings everybody together for peace to reign, stressing that despite the negative media hype propagated by detractors of the State, Rivers State would continue to remain peaceful and safe. 



In her remarks the State Commissioner for Women Affairs Barr. Ukel Oyaghiri who said it was time to work the talk advised the Vice Chairmen to emulate the Deputy Governor whom she described as a woman of integrity and capacity.

She said they must touch the lives of women in their LGAs through which about 70% of families could be touched.





In their remarks the Deputy Mayor of Port Harcourt, Marian Fiberesima who is the Chairman of the Forum of Vice Chairmen of Local Government Councils and the Secretary of the Forum, Christiana Tamunobereton-Ari said they were in her office to congratulate her on her emergence as the running mate of Governor Wike in his second term bid and for the motherly role  and support she gives to the women folk, stressing that they were totally committed to work and ensure  the Governors team succeeds in 2019.
