WHILE YOU WAIT, WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?

Waiting is one of the most difficult things to do especially when you need an urgent attention from someone, need to get something done or want something urgently. No one likes waiting and no one wants to wait. Waiting can be so frustrating sometimes especially in this time of instant gratification when it seems the reason for your waiting will never come to pass and the waiting seems unending. At every stage of our lives, there is a waiting period for one thing or the other and most times we wait for things that are out of our control (if they were within our reach, then no one would wait for anything) but there is always a beautiful side at the end of our waiting . Waiting increases our patience, builds our character, hope and faith hence patience as a virtue that we all should practice. "And patience produces character and character produces hope and this hope will not disappoint us because God has poured out His love to fill our hearts. He gave us His love through the Holy spirit who God has given us." Romans 5:4-5. I  have been in such situations several times but at the end, it was all worth the wait and still presently on waiting periods for other things to be achieved in my life.

Most times, it seems our prayers are not or won't be answered by God when the waiting seems unending but nay, He has better plans for us. "For I know the plans I have towards you," declares the Lord," plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11.

Waiting is part of us being human, but the question is "what do you do while you wait for that which you desire after doing all you ought to do to get what you desire?

                                   WHAT TO DO WHILE YOU WAIT 

• DO NOT FRET : First of do not be shaken or fret for fear of not having what you crave for especially when you see people moving ahead of you in that particular area you are waiting on. Not everyone went through the process of waiting hence they don't see or know the beauty of waiting but for you, when this process of waiting is achieved, you get to have a beautiful story to tell, value that which you waited for and appreciate life even better. While waiting and you see others progressing on that area you are waiting on, fear grips you making you wonder if you can ever make it, then temptation sets in to get what you want by hook or by crook. "Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong" Psalm 37:1.

• COMMIT IT TO GOD : Instead of fear, commit that which you are waiting for into God's hands and let Him take over. "Commit to the Lord whatever you do and He will establish your plans." Proverbs 16:3. You have done your part, let God take over the rest. It might seem there won't be any way out and wondering how its gonna be but how God is gonna do it shouldn't be your concern cause His ways are not our ways. "For my thoughts are not your thoughts neither are your ways my ways", declares the Lord." Isaiah 55:8. You can never fathom God's ways because He acts in mysterious ways so Let Him take over that which you have no control over.

• BE THANKFUL : While you wait, remain grateful to God for what you see and what you haven't seen. Your thanking God will always boost your faith in Him. "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and the assurance about what we do not see." Hebrews 11:1. Each day you wake up is enough reason to be thankful to God and each sun rise fills you with the hope of getting that which you wait for. We are so entangled in the big dreams that we have that we fail to see the blessings God bestows on us every day. Each day you go out and come back safe and sound is enough reason to thank God, the appetite you have to eat food is a reason to be thankful and most of all, the priceless gift of life is more than enough reason to be thankful and grateful to God.

• DREAM BIG : Don't let the fear of the unknown kill your dreams. You have handed your dreams (that which you are waiting for) over to God so keep visualizing your dreams and see them come to pass. Don't try to limit God with your fears wondering how He is going to do it. Your fears will only limit you but you can move God with your unwavering faith. "For I know the plans I have towards you," declares the Lord," plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11.

• CULTIVATE YOUR TALENTS : While you wait, get your talents cultivated. Don't halt your life for one dream that is yet to be achieved. Get to know your talents and skills and develop them so you move on with life while you wait for your dream to be achieved. You have innate talents given to you by God. These talents can be cultivated by reading, being mentored or being trained. " Do you see someone who is skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank." Proverbs 22:29.

• MOVE ON TO THE GOAL/MOVE ON IN LIFE : Rather than getting stuck and just waiting for one goal to be achieved, move on to the next goal in your life and start working on that. Don't get stuck on one goal and pause your life. While you wait, pursue other dreams and goals, this gets you busy with life and before you know it, your previous goal is achieved and the present almost if not achieved as well." The righteous keep moving forward; and those with clean hands become stronger and strong." Job 17:9.
