NEVER FORGET WHO YOU ARE

Life's challenges often tend to make us forget who we are. The daily hustling and bustling in order to make ends meet is no exception in making us forget who we really are.

There are people who also define who they are by their past experiences or the situations they find themselves in.

There are also those who would try to define you by your past experiences, mistakes and failures. For such people, you can't be any better, you can't do better hence the negative label on you by them.

We are not what people label us with. They are entitled to their opinions. Truth is, you can't stop people from talking about you negatively but you can choose to ignore.

The best label we can put on ourselves is what God has labeled us with and what we call ourselves. People can't define who you are except you let them.

Life is full of ups and downs. We might experience setbacks, mistakes or failures but we are not our circumstances. Challenges will always come at every stage of life.

These circumstances/challenges may actually refine us, shape us, strengthen us and bring the best out of us depending on how we respond to the negative challenges.

Negative circumstances have a huge way of telling us that we are incapable, unqualified, not good or suitable enough, not fit for the job, position, for a person etc.

Life itself tries to push us down telling us what we can not do or how we ain't good enough and if we aren't careful, we would end up doing things we aren't suppose to do denying our faith in God.

Sometimes, it it your thoughts saying you are not good enough, not capable enough, you are not attractive enough, you future is not and can't be bright because there is nothing in there.

Your thoughts will keep reminding you of your past failures, mistakes and negative experiences just to tell you who and what you are not especially when you want to embark on something new and great like a project, give a presentation, write an exam or even in a new relationship.

This is when past mistakes and failures begin to have a recap in your head and mind reminding you of how it happened the other time.

But if we allow all these lies to get into us then we become truly incapacitated to that which we are able to do and become what God has truly called us to be.

These negative thoughts can keep you from your purpose in life. They can make you drift apart from what God has called you to be.

I have experienced all these several times. I have had negative thoughts that make me want to give up in life as well as give in to negative circumstances, give up on the good things God has promised me and go into my shell.

You see, God designed and created us in His own image (Genesis 1:27). He knows what we can do and can not do. In us is His ability to become and be that which He has designed us to be.

For us to know who we are is to search the scriptures and see what He says about us. God never intended that we become mediocre or failures.

He says in Jeremiah 29:11 " For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord." plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future."

He says you are the head and not the tail, you will be above and not beneath (Deuteronomy 28:13).  He has designed you to be at the mountain top. The top most top is where you ought to be.

You are a success and not a failure. Just because you failed once does not make you a failure (2 Corinthians 12:9).

He declares you a champion and not a looser, a conqueror and not vanquished, a victor and not a victim (Romans 8:37).

You are blessed, prosperous, unique, filled with creative ideas, you are brilliant, you are excellent, you are exceptional, confident, focused irrespective of the distractions.

No matter the challenge, the mockery, criticism or difficulties, you are worth more than you can ever imagine in the sight of God.

When you know all that God has called and ordained you to be, you will not let life's circumstances bring or weigh you down.

You will not allow what is not changing in your life discourage  you from being and living the life God wants you to live.

God never promised us an easy life but promises to be with us through the storms. All He wants is for us to trust Him during the trying times believing and having faith that He will bring us out as shining stars (Isaiah 41:10, Isaiah 43:2).

When you begin to see yourself as who God has made you to be and begin declaring them to yourself. It becomes a part of you and you begin to act in that light.

When you declare the words, they get down into your spirit, empower you, shift your focus from the negative to the positive and you begin to see yourself in the light of God believing you can accomplish the seemingly impossible task and live the life God wants you to live.

Play the words of God continually in your head and not what people say about you because people would want to judge you or define you by your pasts, mistakes and failures but because you know that is not who you are or what you are, you replace what people say about you with what God says about you.

Quote for the day - "Never let people's opinions and expectations of you determine who you are."
