YOUR CHOICE OF HABITS

Between adolescence and youth ages, people are prone to learn and engage in various habits. Smoking hemps and cigarettes, drinking alcohol, gangster bandwagon, criminal tendencies and the likes are habits learnt from these age ranges.

Whether these guys will grow with these habits into middle and old ages is a question of management, guidance and realization. For some, the same habit kills them (whichever way) some manage to get by with accompanying health hazards and the “lucky ones” stay alive with no side effects….for now, I guess.

Changing peoples’ lifestyles is neither for the principal nor for the influencer or catalyst (mother, father, spouse, etc, whoever is trying to make us change). This is because habits are enjoyable (that’s why we are in them in the first place) and they get embedded into our systems with time.

I might not have a good advice for the influencer or catalyst in the context of these notes, but the focus of my notes is to the principals (the indulger).  You will need to provide answers to the following:

Can you display it in the public?

Being able to display it in the public means it is not illegal to indulge in it. It also means it is not largely frowned at. This does not mean it does not come with a health hazard or violates the right of others. It also does not mean it is acceptable to all persons. Do you care?

Can you afford this habit?

You don’t expect someone else to fund your habit. Your moral choice is clearly attached to your financial liability for such a choice. This is why we find destitution in the society, where they sell all they have, even steal, to fund a habit they choose to indulge in. You must be ready to be responsible for your choice of habit and not constitute a liability to the society!

Are you knowledgeable of the consequences?

We are told narcotics lead to disillusionment or dementia. We are also informed that cigarette smokers are “liable to die young”. Have you studied the consequences clearly? It is public knowledge that if you sleep around without discretion, it might bring grave consequences. You need to be sure you understand the likely consequences of that habit before you indulge…..and be ready too, in case you are one of the “unlucky ones”.

What about the legal consequences? There are legal consequences for some of the habits too.

Cost of consequences?

If you get hospitalized due to the consequences of any of these habits, are you already conversant with the hospital bills? Can you afford the bills? We don’t expect that you indulge in a habit and when medical crisis set in, you start asking for help from innocent people who chose not to join you.

Final Notes:

I am neither talking to you about Christianity or Islam here. This is me addressing issues based on “common sense” which is clearly uncommon.

If your answer to all the questions I raised above are all YES, you have my blessings to indulge in as many habits as you wish. You have my blessings.

No religion, no sentiments, no morality and no grammar, I am done addressing (I won’t advise) on this matter.

See you while you remain alive and agile!
