The Rivers State Government has urged those saddled with the responsibility of handling security in the Country to take their jobs seriously to put an end to the carnage in the North East.

Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike stated this while speaking during 2018 National Missions Conference of Grace Covenant Ministries in Port Harcourt, on Sunday 6
th May, 2018.

The Governor who spoke through his Deputy, Dr. (Mrs) Ipalibo Harry Banigo expressed sadness at the recent killing of some priests while conducting service, noting that we have to cry out to the Lord to Put an end to this bloodbath.

“Let us not feel comfortable that it is not happening here, we must cry out to the Lord because it is only Him that can save our country. One thing that this nation cannot survive is a religious war, no part of this country can survive it, and we must be very mindful and cry to the Lord to stop this bloodletting” Governor Wike stressed.

He called on the Inspector General of Police, the Armed Forces and the DSS as well as other security agencies to stop beating about the bush and proffer solution to these killings.

He said Rivers State is secure because the State Government is hinged on Jesus Christ in addition to putting policies that guarantees the safety of lives and properties.

The State Chief Executive further said that as Christians we should not rest on our oars, because there are more territories to win for the Lord.

According to him instead of enslaving ourselves with irrelevant things we should speak and live out the gospel which is the heart throb of God.

Speaking on the theme “So Send I You” which was drawn from John 20:21b, the Guest Speaker, Bishop John Bienose said the Kingdom of God is all about righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.

He said in preaching the gospel openness should be the hallmark of our intent, there should be no veil when preaching, stressing that the message that saves is the message of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Earlier the Presiding Bishop of Grace Covenant Ministries, Bishop Winston Iwo, who is also the Special Adviser to Governor Wike on Religious Matters, said the vision of the Grace Covenant Ministries was born on the 1stof May, 1999 with the vision and mandate to take the Gospel to African Nations and beyond.

He described the Grace Covenant Ministries as a mission oriented Ministry which according to him has taken the vision to various villages of Taraba State-Northern Nigeria, Kenya and Liberia where thousands of souls were won for Christ in addition to providing, some of their Physical needs and other social amenities.
