Rivers State Deputy Governor Dr. (Mrs.) Ipalibo Harry Banigo says failure on the part of citizens to behave responsibly is responsible for the increase in the prevalence of HIV/AIDs in the World. In a statement from the Government House in Port Harcourt to commemorate the 2017 World AIDs Day, Dr. Banigo said HIV/ AIDs is a behavioural disease which is transmitted through the body fluid of infected persons. According to the Deputy Governor who is a Public Health Physician, a lot of people still believe HIV/AIDS is a myth which does not exist or is transmitted through fetish means if it exists at all. “For those People who think AIDS does not exist, AIDS is real, abstinence from unprotected sex, mutual fidelity amongst non infected partners, avoidance of the use of unsterilized sharp objects, transfusion of blood screened from HIV, as well as the use of Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission Protocol are ways to mitigate the spread of the virus”  Dr. Banigo stressed.

Rivers State Deputy Governor Dr (Mrs.) Ipalibo Harry Banigo says the presence of women in any profession makes it significantly safer, more peaceful and successful. BANIGO FROWNS AT THE REJECTION OF PATIENTS WITH GUN SHOT INJURIES

Rivers State Deputy Governor Dr. (Mrs.) Ipalibo Harry Banigo has frowned at the incessant deaths recorded as a result of the rejection of patients with gunshot injuries by private health facilities in the State. Dr. Banigo expressed her displeasure in reaction to the death of Mr. Christopher Ojika, who was shot by unknown assailants in the Ikoku area of Port Harcourt, and was rejected by several private clinics, that led to his untimely demise.
