The Rivers State Government has expressed the need to take a critical look at the recruitment processes of Security Agencies to mitigate alleged issues of human rights abuses by security operatives.

The State Chief Executive, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike stated this during a courtesy visit by the Presidential Investigating Panel to Review Compliance of the Armed forces with Human rights Obligation and Rules of engagement at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

Represented by his Deputy Dr. (Mrs.) Ipalibo Harry Banigo, Governor Wike expressed the hope that the panel will fashion out a sustainable mechanism to deal with issues of human rights abuses by Security Agencies.

JOIN FORCES WITH WIKE TO CELEBRATE RIVERS STATE BANIGO TELLS APC

Rivers State Deputy Governor Dr. (Mrs.) Ipalibo Harry Banigo says while members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are busy churning out lies to discredit the Nyesom Ezenwo Wike led Administration in the State.

GOVERNOR WIKE CALLS FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE TO DE-ESCALATE POLITICAL TENSION

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has stated unless Nigerians experience good governance  at the Federal Level, agitations  will continue across different parts of the country.

Speaking during the 57th Independence Church Service at the Saint Mark's Anglican Church in Port Harcourt on Sunday, Governor Wike said that Rivers State is not part of any agitation  for secession.

He said:

 "In as much as you continue  to have bad governance, people will continue to agitate across the country.

"We give God the glory that we are still one, despite the agitations and challenges. God has blessed this country.  We are not part of those who want to secede. Rivers State will never be part of that."

The governor, however, pointed out that the country cannot continue  with the current level of impunity and injustice, saying that it is time for the right thing to be done.

ASPIRE TO BE RELEVANT AND SUCCESSFUL: BANIGO TELLS WOMEN

The Deputy Governor of Rivers State Dr. (Mrs.) Ipalibo Harry Banigo has advised women to aspire to be relevant and successful in their chosen career.

The Deputy Governor gave this advice during the 6th Triennial Delegates Conference of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) at the Earnest Ikoli Press centre in Port Harcourt.
Represented by her Special Assistant on Research and Social Media, Uki Asemota Dr. Banigo said the table of success is not limited to any specific gender but to anyone who aspires. “If you can aspire, I am more than certain that you can be successful” she emphasized.



She said Governor Wike, who she described as a gender friendly Governor, has taken steps to encourage women into different positions in his Administration, stressing that it behoves on women to involve themselves in politics from the grass roots.

GOVERNOR WIKE CALLS FOR INVESTMENTS IN SCIENCE RESEARCH INSTITUTIONS

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has stated that investments in science research institutions will help in reviving the country's economy.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu at the Government House Port Harcourt on Thursday, Governor Wike said that a diversified economy will create employment opportunities for the people.
He said: "We must sustain the development of technology for the growth of the country. I urge that we begin to use research reports from science institutes to attain the desired growth. "The development of relevant machinery and equipment will help create jobs locally and enhance the economy ".
The governor commended the Minister of Science and Technology for establishing the Chemical Equipment and Machinery Development Institute in Port Harcourt.

Rivers State Deputy Governor Dr. (Mrs.) Ipalibo Harry   Banigo has urged the Nigeria Guild of Editors to be objective while telling the story of Rivers State.

She said media hype of insecurity in the State by some section of the press is worrisome and is seen as a political witch-hunt by right thinking Rivers People.
Quoting John Adams, the Second President of the United States of America “Facts are stubborn things and whatever may be our wishes, inclinations, or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the State of facts and evidence”




Dr. Banigo said when telling the Rivers Story facts must be sacred, stressing that most times negative stories concerning the State are blown out of proportion, noting that as gate keepers it behoves on them to maintain a balance.

HOSTING OF SYNOD: BANIGO CONGRATULATES GOVERNOR WIKE [PHOTOS]

Rivers State Deputy Governor Dr. (Mrs.) Ipalibo Harry Banigo has congratulated Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for successfully hosting the General Synod of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion in Port Harcourt.

In a statement from, the Government House in Port Harcourt Dr. Banigo said as the alternate Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee Governor Wike brought his wealth of experience to bear, as a prudent manager of human and material resources.
