Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that nobody has the right to issue quit notices to other Nigerians, saying that despite recent social challenges, Nigeria will continue to be united. Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has explained that the dissolution of the State Executive Council was done in consultation with the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. Speaking during the Election Thanksgiving Service in honour of the Majority Whip of the Rivers State House of Assembly at St Martin's Anglican Church, Ogu on Sunday, Governor Wike said that the dissolution was done to rejig the machinery of government to move the state forward. He said:  "This is when you know those who are loyal and those who are not loyal. There is no crack in government. We are working together. GOVERNOR WIKE INSPECTS KEY ROAD PROJECTS, HOLDS STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEETING

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on Saturday embarked on the inspection of critical roads designed to reduce pressure on the Aba Road in Port Harcourt. The roads inspected include: Garrison-Trans Amadi-Slaughter- Elelenwo road, Woji-Akpajo Bridge/road and the Dualization of the Elelenwo -Akpajo road. Governor Wike who met with the contractors and Ministry of Works site engineers at the different project sites assured that funding will be sustained to ensure quality delivery. He expressed satisfaction that the bridges on the roads have been completed, noting that his administration will settle the compensation required for the expansion of aspects of the Garrison-Trans Amadi-Slaughter- Elelenwo road, Woji-Akpajo Bridge. The Deputy Governor of Rivers State Dr. (Mrs.) Ipalibo Harry Banigo has called on fathers not to shirk their responsibilities to their families no matter the challenges that may confront them. The Deputy Governor stated this in a release from Government House Port Harcourt to commemorate the 2017 Father’s Day. According to Dr. Banigo fathers are supposed to be symbols of discipline and mentorship in homes, stressing that the family becomes dysfunctional when a father fails to play his role. She said unruly behaviour, truancy, cultism and gangsterism amongst young people can be traced to the absence of a fatherly figure in their lives and urged Fathers to ensure that they direct their children to the right path at all times. RIVERS STATE DEPUTY GOVERNOR DR. (Mrs) IPALIBO HARRY BANIGO MAKES A CASE FOR CHILDREN

Rivers State Deputy Governor Dr. (Mrs.) Ipalibo Harry Banigo says it is ungodly to force children to work instead of giving them education. The Deputy Governor stated this in a release from Government House in Port Harcourt as the global community commemorates the World Day Against Child Labour on June 12 th , 2017.  According to Dr. Banigo children are supposed to be loved and catered for by their parents and guardians and not the other way round, stressing that it is a misnomer for children to be bread winners no matter the circumstances. “Children are supposed to be in school and not at work.”  She stressed. In a statement from Government House Port Harcourt the Deputy Governor described the natural ruler of the Ibani People as an erudite monarch and a gentleman whose peaceful disposition has continued to bring development to the Ibani Kingdom. She said he is a young and dynamic king who is a source of pride and inspiration to the Bonny People because of his exemplary leadership style and urged the Ibani youths to emulate him. UPDATE ON UN VISIT TO WIKE: WIKE APPEALS TO UN TO PREVAIL ON BUHARI OVER OGONI CLEAN-UP

On Thursday 8th June, the Rivers State Government received a courtesy visit from the UN Resident/Coordinator at the state's Government house, Port Harcourt. Rivers State Governor, Chief Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike (Middle), his Deputy, Dr. (Mrs) Ipalibo Harry Banigo (4 th  Right), Mr. Edward Kallon, UN Resident/Humanitarian Coordinator (4 th  Left) and others. The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, in the course of the visit by the UN top officials seized the opportunity to appeal that the UN prevail on Federal Government to implement the clean up of Ogoni land. According to Governor Wike, one year after the clean up of Ogoni was launched and flagged of by the Vice President Osinbajo in 2016, the situation in the area remains the same. RIVERS STATE DEPUTY GOVERNOR RECEIVES A RECAP/SUMMARY OF REPORT ON BARAKO AND NWEBIARA OF GOKANA

The   Deputy Governor of Rivers State Dr. Mrs. Ipalibo Harry Banigo has advised the People of Barako and Nwebiara in Gokana Local Government Area to sheath their swords and maintain the peace at all times. The Deputy Governor stated this while receiving the summary/recap of report on Barako/Nwebiara Boundary demarcation in her office in Port Harcourt.   Dr. Banigo frowned at a situation where people take laws into their hands and destroy lives and properties because of land disputes stressing that there are better options to resolve issues no matter how thorny they are. “We must eschew violence because violence begets violence.”  She said. This according to her underscores the reason for the setting up of the Barako/Nwebara Boundary Dispute Technical Committee made up of critical stake holders to wade into the matter.
